What does this say about priorities in Washington?

The tax industry has more employees that the five biggest employers among fortune 500 companies. That means they have more employees than Walmart, UPS, McDonalds, IBM and Citigroup COMBINED. The IRS also has more employees that the CIA and the FBI combined.

The Tax code is more than 9 million words long. The IRS estimates that we spend roughly 7.6 million hours a year dealing with the tax system. That is the equivalent of 4 million full time workers.

  • It says exactly what I've been saying for years ~ slavery for black people was repealed by the 13th amendment and reinstated for every US citizen by the 16th amendment.

It says that our elected officials have found an end run around what our founding fathers wanted, which was very low taxes, very little government, and a country where people could live free.

I'm still waiting to see that happen, but unless we rid ourselves of the progressives and the welfare lovers (both elected and users), that is just a pipe dream.

  • Is this a sudden and big change in the last 2 years, or has this arm of the government been bloated for a good long time? Certainly looks like a robust department.

  • All those agents and access to so much info....and they didn't know my husband was deployed? We have been dealing with them for almost a month trying to PROVE he was deployed to a war zone. His W-2 shows he was deployed AND the amount of pay not subject to income taxes. Hasn't stopped them from asking for almost everything except DNA or fingerprints he left over there.

The US tax code and the IRS need to go.

  • The US tax code and the IRS need to go. ~ YSK

I agree YSK. A fair tax and getting rid of the IRS would go a long way towards getting the US back on track ... and would also remind our elected congresscritters that they are there to serve, not spend.

Well gee adnilm, how about you enlighten us? Just what exactly is needed to "keep this country going"? And, if what you deem necessary includes spending on ANYTHING other than a stipend-sans-inflated retirement for congresscritters (which is all they are if they are doing more spending than serving), putting the infrastructure back together, and the military (which is all that the COTUS calls for) I'd also like to know why you think that item is necessary to keep this country going.

You mean like Obama's hope and change? Predictable generality from a progressive. Why don't you summarize what it takes since you and your fellow progressives seem to know what is good for us. Oh that's right...you can't...Obama has not put forth a budget nor a vision...just predictable generalities.
