Is it true that when you are induced from the moment the doctor breaks your water.....

it takes only 5 hours or less to deliver the baby?

  • In general, I don't think so. However, with me, it was. Both times I had my water broken (however, 2 of my 3 labor/deliveries were 5.5 hours or less total from first contraction).

  • Please don't hate me but I'm one of those that water breaks three contractions and the baby is out. Although all 5 times it happened when I fully dilated and they were ready to come out.

  • I wish! No, everyone's body is different. I was induced both times.
The first time, my water broke on my own 27 hours into my labor, and I delivered 14 hours later.
With my second, my midwife broke my water after about 26 hours, and I delivered 10 hours later.

  • Don't know but probably not. Everyones body is different. From the moment I stepped into the door till I gave birth was a total of 8 hrs.

  • NO! My water broke, then it took us about 2 hours to get to the hospital, they induced me right away (I was almost 43wks) and I was still in labor for another 14 hours...

  • At first they tried potocin to induce labor with me, but had no luck so, they then broke my water. I had my little girl 4 and a half hours later. It is not the same for everyone though.
