Okay, so i'm sitting at my desk and printing stuff off on the

office printer. I wasn't quite done doing what needed to be done, and the sales manager (male) comes out of his office and takes my stuff off and puts it in my mail tray, (fine) I make a joke and tell him to stay there because I still had more to print. His comment back to me was, "No, you need the exercise"

And no, i'm not that big... What would you do?

  • That was incredibly unprofessional. Jokes are OK in the workplace, but NEVER at the expense of a co-worker. Jokes cannot be personal at work.

  • Was he being rude about it? I'd go to the boss and tell him/her that the sales manager offended you and that what he said was wrong.

  • It doesn't matter if you're pole thin or obsese there isn't any need for a comment like that. Especially in a professional (or supposed to be) environment. If that were me I would take the boss aside and let him know that his comment was innapropriate and uncalled for. He had no reason to make a comment of that nature.

  • Just let it go - he probably didn't take it you were kidding and was miffed that you suggested he stand and wait for your printouts.
