What is a good way to calm my anxiety and panic attacks from coming on while flying

    LOL! That's what I was thinking! Start drinking an hour before the flight! And continue to drink until you land! lol :)

  • One Benedryl is a very good sedative. Don't take two, though, there is a funny threshold where two might cause worse anxiety.

    And, think distraction. Anything that works . . .pop in a very strong mint, pinch the skin on your wrist, stretch your ankles and feet, stretch your neck, listen to the ipod, try some muscle tensing, having a conversation.

    Remember that what makes the panic attack worse is often avalanching internal dialogue. You can stop that dialogue through distraction.

    Cold, icy drinks are also good.

  • I made an appointment with my doctor and asked her for a tranquiliser.  I told her it was just for flying and only needed enough pills to get me there and home again.
