  • As long as they are in good shape, not ripped, torn, overly baggy, etc. I don't see a problem with it. I don't base my opinion on the effectiveness of a teacher on what they are wearing but on how they teach and interact with my child and other children.

  • Yes, I used to teach and so looked forward to Fridays when our school allowed the teachers to wear jeans. I was so much more comfortable!

  • I think as long as they are not "hoochie" jeans, ripped or dirtly why not? I think elementary teachers have to get down on the floor with kids and stuff, I have no problem, unless they teach at a school with uniforms (like mine) they wear the same thing the kids do.

  • Why not. As long as they're teaching my child, what they wear doesn't matter so much. And I'll tell you this, the "teacher" my son had for 3 year old preschool dressed professionally, skirts, slacks, etc. and she was a NIGHTMARE. The teacher he had for 4 year old preschool wore jeans, polos, khakis and she was absolutely wonderful with my child, who has some special needs.

  • YES!! Why not?? As long as they are tasteful (not skin tight leggins or filthy & ripped) there is NO reason why they can't!!!!

  • Definitely! Especially if they are involved with younger kids, sitting on the floor, running around the playground, etc.

I'm sure most teachers are aware of what they're doing any given day, and dress appropriately- just like we do. Open houses and conferences, they'd wear more formal clothes. On field day, jeans and T-shirt or shorts. If my daughter's preschool teacher wore a suit or slacks and blouse to class, I'd actually think much less of her, because she couldn't do her job effectively. On the other hand, a teacher who is younger or teaching difficult, older kids and isn't taken seriously, might dress a little more formally and find find the kids respond to that.

Teacher dress codes must be a problem, just like they are for students, but I can definitely see jeans as being a part of them.

  • Yes, but certain jeans. Not too tight, not ripped. Jeans that you could wear to an office.
