Why do they announce that they'll be announcing that they'll run for president?

It's like announcement red tape or something.

  • Same reason they announce when they'll be announcing something after they're president - so they can coordinate it to not interfere with the American Idol finale or a major cliffhanger on Days of our Lives.

  • I've wondered the same thing. They will have a 'formal' announcement. How formal does it have to be? Just say you're running and go for it.
