Are there women who are more likely to have postpartum depression?

Like, women who have been diagnosed with depression before, lost children, or suffered a tragedy etc? Or does it just happen to anyone?

  • My OB told me that women who have been diagnosed with depression before are at higher risk for PPD. It can happen to anyone, though.

  • it can happen to anyone.

HOWEVER, there are several factors that can put someone at a higher risk of having PPD.

  • Yes, if you have a history of depression, or any other mental disorder, statistics show that your chances are higher than individuals who have never struggled.
