What makes more sense as far as shopping goes...... what would you suggest?

I live in a very small town we have a drug store and small grocery store...prices there are high.

I live 30 miles from Kmart and Target where prices are cheaper.

my daughter is at camp and wants me to send her some things she needs.

does it make more sense to drive a 60 mile round trip to get cheaper stuff or should I just stay in town and pay a higher price?

with gas prices high it costs around $15 to make the trip into the bigger town

  • Do a rough estimate of the cost of the items in town vs. the cost in the next town. Then add in your gas. It would probably be cheaper to do it in your town. I personally do not shop in the town I live in for anything other than emergency items but that is just my way!

  • I'd support the local businesses and save on gas money and time and get local. :)

  • For just a few things, I would buy them at the local drug or grocery store. Now if you were buying a lot or if you had to go to the other town for a reason, then I would say make the special trip but not for just a few items.

  • yeah I sure would save on time...I could get what she needs and have it mailed off to her in 20 minutes, literally! but going to the next town is a good 2 hours
