Father's Day Gift Ideas... for an ex?

I'm sure there have already been quite a few father's day-related questions, but this one might be a little different.

I'm not with my son's dad anymore - we haven't been together for over a year - but I would still like to get him something for father's day... since our son is three and obviously can't shop himself. And, his dad got me a gift card for mother's day... so I would feel bad if I didn't get anything for him.

But I'm not entirely sure what to get.

What would you get your child's dad if you weren't together? Or would you even bother?

  • my ex gets the same thing for fathers day that i got for mothers day
my ex did not take the time or effort to remember me on mothers day, so i will return the same
    ZERO

thank you calendar fairies for making mothers day come first
would have felt like a stupid ass, getting him a fathers day card and/or gift from our child only to get zero on mothers day

if you get along with your ex - great!
something like he did for you on mothers day
that way no one will feel out done and all will remain civil between the two of you

again - you for you two for having a mature break up
    --------------------------------------------------
what did your ex get for you on mothers day?

  • How about you and your son pick out a card? If you received a small gift for Mother's Day how about also getting help picking out a small house plant or mug? Thoughtful but not too personal.

  • You can never go wrong with a photo of your child doing something cute... It's cheap, but still thoughtful.

  • Have your child make him a card ..paint his hand and put his hand print on it. Buy him a simple "DAD" keychain and thats it.

  • I'll probably end up buying a card - I don't know when I'll have my son between now and father's day, unfortunately!

  • Things aren't civil between us at all. I was actually surprised he'd gotten me anything - it was sort of an attempt at me not hating him, I guess... even though I never did. Things are better now, but I wouldn't say civil.

He got me a $25 gift card for the mall I worked at at the time, and a card.
