When do you stop riding in the back seat with your baby?

I started riding in the rear seat when we brought Baby home from the hospital. The carseat seemed so big and he seemed so small...

He's now 10 weeks, and I'm STILL doing it. If I'm driving, my husband will hop in the back. We laugh at how silly we must look, driving down the road with the front seat unoccupied and the back seat full of spouse and baby, but we haven't been able to break the habit. Baby's neck is getting stronger, but still we worry about not being right beside him...

When did you stop riding in the back with your little one in the carseat?

  • I think I rode in the back on the way home from the hospital and then I was back to the front seat unless he was particular crabby or upset

  • I never did, cause I'm always driving! LOL My hubby rides in the back sometimes, but it depends on how long we are in the car. For a long haul it's easier to have someone back there to entertain and keep kiddo occupied. (my son is 3 btw)

  • I never rode in the back, since I'm a single Mom of twins with a teeny car haha :P I haven't heard of people riding in the back with their baby every time theyre in the car, so since it's not too common i wouldn't think you would really have to worry about it too much unless there is a specific reason such as a medical issue. definitely look into neck supports, the ones that go on the sides of the belts work really well, i used those.
