Can the Bible teach parents how to raise their children?

Specially when the children are in a time of their lives when they are transitioning to adulthood. What does the Bible said about sexual relationships before marriage?

  • I am raising a teen ad a tween- to me, the most important lesson from the bible is to honor yourself and others- as far as sex goes- right now my stance is at 16, my son is in no position to be responsible for the emotional well being anyone other than himself- there is no such ting as casual sex at 16-someone is always looking for something more- he needs to honor himself and those around him by not taking advantage of others-especially in a sexual manner- when he gets a serious GF we will move on to the next stage and talk about that then-the blanket "no sex without marriage" is meaningless to a horny 16 year old boy, but understanding the implications of sex from a human emotion stand-point he gets....so far, so good-

  • Yes, it is WELL covered!!!
If you have a Bible w/ a Concordance, that is a big help, or you can go online to find verses that apply to any topic you type in the search box.
However, trying to teach or instill the correct attitudes in this area must begin in early childhood!! When they are teens, it may be impossible to win them back to the side of right, safe & Godly thinking....

  • Any book can teach someone how to raise children. Tupac's biography, Cinderella, Go Ask Alice. That doesn't mean it will teach them to do it well.

  • The bible says to kill an unruly child with stoning, to stone a non-virgin daughter to death on her father's doorstep, and to beat children to force them to obey. A girl doesn't even get god's mercy if she is raped against her will. She is forced to marry her rapist. And sons don't have to have their virginity tested before THEY get married like girls do. Common sense is a better barometer for discussing sex with kids than the bible is. Kim Kardashian doesn't have anything on the Song of Solomon as far as promiscuity goes!!

  • Yes! God is never changing and therefore his Word is still applicable .... "there is nothing new under the sun."

  • The Bible says a LOT about the sexual relationship in general. It would take more than 900 characters to answer that ... what specifically are you asking about?

  • No.  Raising teenagers is very different in our modern society.  In biblical times they didn't raise teenagers, they married them off.
