Does anyone have a problem with Paul and this deal, when gold miners pay no royalties to the U.S. for mining on U.S. owned land?

  • Anon - the fact that he owns stocks in gold aught to tell you something. He believes that America aught to return to the gold standard and even use gold and silver as hard currency. The man is smart and has positioned his portfolio in such a way that he will be very wealthy if/when we return to the gold standard.

And, Constitutionally speaking, the US is not permitted to own land. The land is supposed to be owned by private individuals. So I really don't care that the US is not getting royalties off of land that shouldn't belong to them.

  • We own gold stocks too. Investing in gold is a smart solid investment...the most successful investment in the history of the world...along with real estate..except it can be volatile. Every portfolio should include gold.

  • What is your point? That it's bad to own gold stocks (what about coins and bars?) because gold miners pay no royalties?
Maybe I'm confused but anyone can own those stocks or gold and I don't see anything wrong with it.

  • i doubt that his holdings have anything to do with his hope that the US will return to the gold standard . It won't happen , despite his dreams . The idea is ludicrous . But he has probably made a good investment if the stocks are productive mines .

  • The only people who have a problem with Paul owning stock in gold mines, are those who don't understand that ANYONE, at ANY income level can own stocks, and that stockholders are not necessarily wealthy, but they are smart with the money they do have!

By the way, we own stock in 2 of the companies the OP mentioned! :o)
