Is there any way to turn a bottle nipple into a pacifer safley?

My baby loves to eat just to eat just to sleep and i know this is normal but i pay for some expensive formula and i cant afford to waste a drop of it by him spitting it up just cuz he wasnt hungry and he wont take the soothie paci bc there not like the playtex ventair bottle nipples and there are no vent air paci i dont think is there any way i can reguarly just give him his bottle but block the air flow to it by putting the soothie pasi in the bootle/nipple to block the airflow?
OK u know how u reguarly feed baby right well can i put the soothie paci in the regular bottle nipple to block the air flow but still have all the parts of bottle connected so he wont have any chances of choking or something? idk if it will fall out or not inside botle though. what do u say? And i have been hearing so many people saying its ok to give 2 month old water or something to just get them to sleep but then i heard it was wrong and im not trying to start a forum war lol but is this ok to do or what bc between everybody saying yes and no half of them arnt mom just a ( professional) i want advise from real moms. so should i try the whole bottle/paci thing or water or something? feel free to tell me what u did. thanks

  • You cannot make a bottle nipple in to a pacifier. It isn't safe. If you are desperate for a pacifier - keep trying til you find one that works. Otherwise, find other ways to sooth - rocking so sleep, singing, music or white noise in the background, etc.

  • It sounds like you might need to transition into something else for soothing. Sometimes they will resist and it will take awhile and a few hard nights but it will be worth it.

  • No, there isn't a way to do it safely. Try finding a pacifier with a nipple like his bottle. It's probably going to take a little trial and error to find the right one. Try the ones from Playtex first, as he may like the texture of the plastic they use as well as the shape.

And no, it's not safe to give young infants water. First, they don't need it, because formula is over 80% water, and breastmilk is similar. Second, it can very easily cause water intoxication, a serious condition that happens when too much water dilutes the concentration of sodium in the body, upsetting the electrolyte balance and causing tissues to swell. On top of that, it can disrupt the absorbtion of nutrients from formula/breastmilk, and makes them feel full, so they may not feed well.

  • I agree with GlowWorm completely. Have you tried letting baby suck on your pinky finger instead of a paci or bottle to soothe? I had to try a few paci's before I found one my DD liked enough to use. Good luck.
