I have stopped painting my nails

but there's a yellowish tint. anything i can use to get rid of this?
will it go away over time? what's it from, the acidity in the polish?

  • An old remedy for this is soaking your nails in lemon juice, but I have no idea if it works. You could google it.

  • The most common reason that your nails turn yellow is from polish. Darker polishes are more likely to be the cause of nail discoloration. Always apply a clear base coat to protect your finger and toe nails, as it will help prevent the nails from taking on the color you apply. You may still get some discoloration and yellowing, but it will help. Try soaking them in half bleach and half water for about 30 mins make sure you use lots of lotion and some cuticle oil to keep them from getting brittle or sooner or later it will go away they are just stained I"m sure

  • you might be missing some sort of vitamin in your diet, try searching it on or go to a dermotologist , good luck, hope its nothing serious

  • nail polish remover will make the yellowish tint I'm assuming that's what you mean, not get rid of it right

  • It's a result of wearing nail polish in the first place. The color will go away as your nails grow out, assuming you don't wear polish all the time.0

  • im just going to copy and paste this here so i don't loose the info or forget

    Slightly buff the nails for a renewed look.
    Make a solution of one tablespoon of bleach and 1/3 cup of warm water. Soak up to five minutes or scrub the mixture using a nail brush for one full mineute.

  • There is this stuff I bought at Sally's Beauty that got ride of the yellow tint. It is called Originails Bubble white. It worked great.
