Just double checking... this IS being rude, isn't it?

Asking a friend to reschedule her daughter's birth day party.

Being a doula and arriving uninvited at a laboring woman's house with your husband and child in tow and asking the mother if they can come in for a while.

Asking someone who has previously stated that she didn't want a doula if you can attend her birth for free as a favor.

This stuff is unacceptable, right? It's not just in my head?

I'm this person's friend and colleague and I'm thinking about having a heart to heart with her. Thoughts?

  • All of the above are rude and the last two are unprofessional. I would definitely have a talk with your friend/co-worker.

  • If this person doesn't know better by now, she won't even with a heart to heart. She is trying to get what she wants regardless of what is rude or inappropriate. Good luck trying to knock that selfishness out of her...

  • If she has the nerves to make such rude requests, you should feel free to respond very bluntly. The flood gate has been opened.

  • She's really not spoiled or malicious or selfish. She's a very sweet, kindhearted person. She just doesn't GET IT. These types of boundaries are just WAY over her head, like she doesn't even think about it. But she is one of the sweetest people you could ever hope to meet.
