wives tales about cycles

I know that back in the day when folks did their own butchering on the farm women on their cycle were not allowed to touch the meat. I know that they were not allowed to touch the food during the canning process of fruits and vegetables but were they allowed to knead the dough and bake the bread?

  • According to a couple of websites, women were thought to spoil any type of food they came in contact with during their menstrual cycle.

I was able to find on snopes (http://www.snopes.com/pregnant/menses.asp) the following: Breadmaking will fail because the dought will fail to rise if a woman on her cycle comes in contact with it.
