Why does the U.S. spread money and resources overseas when there are so many in need right here at home?

  • Yeah, I think there are plenty of international programs that need reducing.

    Like NATO has left a lot Euroean countries quite happy to leave us financially responsible for their nation's security...The average aged soldier in Germany is 40...they're a rich country, but are only half-a--d working to protect themselves, because they know we'll do it for them.

  • Stop being so selfish. We are all humans. We shouldn't just help people that live in our country we should try our best to help ALL people and besides that the US foreign aid is less than 1% of our total yearly budget.

  • Much of the expenditure is spent on goods and sevices contracted for in the US , especially the military aid . So it does benefit the US . Some other ther countries spend a higher proportion of their GDP on aid programs than the US does . Whether the money is wisely and effectively spent is another matter . There seems to be no program in place to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of aid to individual recipient countries , which is a serious omission .
