Papermaking: ins and outs: felts, sponges, how far will 1 lb of pulp really go?

So what are felts? Can I use cheap felt from a fabric store, or is this something more specific? will any kind of sponge work to pull water out of the paper?

If I make screens, do I need a wood frame? will it not be as strong if it does not have a border?

What is a reasonable time from to get 30-50 kids through making one sheet of paper?

(I understand the basics: shred paper- preferably good quality- soak then put it in the blender, use a screen to dip, pull out as much water as possible, turn out and let dry)
