  • The important thing is to HAVE a schedule. Preschoolers prefer routine. They don't have much control over their environment. Knowing what comes next helps them to make sense of their world, and greatly reduces temper tantrums or stress.

    This is our schedule:
7am breakfast. dress. Brush teeth and hair
    7:30 Calendar
8:00 - 9:30. she plays independently. Clean up.
    9:30 snack
    9:45 outside play
    10:45 inside, art project
    11:45 clean up, wash up.
12: lunch. Brush teeth. Read 2 stories
    1:00 naptime
    3:00 wake up, afternoon snack
    3:20 outside play
4:15 inside, clean up, second art project
4:45 her mom is home from work.
The rest of her evening isn't quite as scheduled. She never eats dinner at the same time, or goes to bed at the same time. While she's an angel for me, she pitches one fit after another for her mom.
    Schedules really do help!

  • Schedules really do depend on the child and your lifestyle. School days had more of a schedule to them than days we were home. My son established certain parts to the schedule as well (after school he wanted a little "downtime" to play with my iTouch) and frequent playground visits but the rest of the time just flowed based on what we needed to get done. The things that do stay consistent are wakeup and bedtime.
