  • We need to take a hard look at who we are putting in jail and why. There just is not enough room anymore. Maybe it is time to not jail for things like prostitution and minor drug offenses. Those people are in and out so often and clog up the system. We need to take a good look at this for sure.

  • When we bring back public hangings it will cut it down.

  • No, because of free will, there will always be people who make poor choices.

  • I think if there was truth in sentencing was strictly enforced, the appeals process was limited to a single appeal, and prisons had a more "Turkish" feel and didn't look like a mini "club med," people MIGHT just think twice before committing a crime.

  • Yes, when criminals get jobs and learn how to behave in society without hurting others!

  • I'd bet my life that there will never be a time like that.

  • Are there ways to cut down on crime or get rids of ridiculous laws? Yes.

Will there ever be a time when people don't steal, rape or murder? NO! History has proven that there will always be a few bad apples.

Yep, Carpy's right, that would work, I don't think we would need a lot of prisons any more...

  • This is the problem with liberals...they are all feeling and dreaming and wishing. Couple that inherent trait with causes celebre and you have the liberal doctrine...if it feels good, do it and make up a slogan while you're at it. Fortunately we have the counter-balance in conservatism that stresses thinking and doing because they know reality trumps the airy fairy. The question from the OP is something you would expect from an adolescent or a newly minted teen and not from a mother prepared to prepare her child for the future. Evolution depends on the survival of the fittest and she rapidly weeds out the weak.
