When is a good time to teach a child to feed them selves?

DD is 6 months old and I was wondering when would be a good time for her to have at it?
She is eating jar food now.

  • When she starts small finger foods. I had my little ones play with toddler spoons before using them to eat with. It gave them a chance to hold it for a while before using it at the table.
