Have you ever gone away on vacation and ran into someone you knew? Did it bother you?

We went on vacation and chose a place a good distance from home. We wanted to get away from everyone and everything. We needed a break.

We ran into someone we knew. It wasn't too bad. Just wished we could have not ran into anyone we knew.

  • I have never run into someone I knew. When we go on vacation, we usually assume that we won't know anybody there, which is why we feel comfortable wearing ridiculous looking floppy vacation hats and sneakers with capri pants, LOL.

  • A few times we have, mainly when we go to Gatlinberg, TN, which is only 3 hours from us. We normally say hi, chit chat for a minute and then go on our way.

  • I haven't actually run into anyone I knew, but I would find it amusing if I did. We have definitely been in the same place at the same time with people we know, but only knew about it because of facebook. When my husband graduated from high school in Colorado, he moved to Orlando and his parents had bought him passes for Disney. While he was at Disney he ran into a girl that he went to high school that's amazing. What are the chances that you'll find someone you know, accidently, from across the country in a crowd like that.

  • Yes last year we were at least 750 miles from home at a national monument that is not visited by many and I actually saw a person who works in the same building as I do! We thought it was hilarious that we had to go so far from home to see each other.

  • It wouldn't bother me. When I was younger I lived overseas. I actually ran into our rabbi from my high school year while walking down the main tourist area. Also a few people from high school here and there. I thought it was great. We said our hellos and then went our own ways. Don't think I've seen them in the 20 years since.
