Flip flops

Are flip flops allowed at your child's school? The are not allowed at the elementary schools here. They are allowed at the middle and high schools and all teachers can wear them.

  • Our elementary schools do not allow them on the kids for safety reasons. Teachers dress codes are set by the principals (which makes it really hard when you are subbing, let me tell you!). Two schools will allow teachers to wear whatever, one school the teachers all look like gym coaches and another requires the teachers to dress business dressy, skirts, heels, etc. Middle and high school don't have any sort of dress code for the teachers, and the students have a laundry list of things they can't wear.

  • Shoes have to have backs in order to be allowed to be worn by students. Adults and teachers can wear what they like. No clue on the older grades - this is for the elementary school.
