  • You need to stick a thin buter knife in the middle of the cake. When you take the knife out, if it is still gooey, then you know it has to go back in the oven. But if it comes out clean and crumbs are only on it, then the cakes done!

  • You can probably stick a toothpick in the top, and if it comes out clean, you know it's done :D

At least, that's what I do with muffins, LOL.

  • Do the toothpick thing, or lightly touch the center of the cake and it should spring back. If there's still an indentation, it needs to bake longer.

  • if you don't have a tooth pick you can use a butterknife as well

  • yeah a wooden toothpick is the best, ive also used a fork before

  • The toothpick thing works, but also you can touch it. If it bounces back and is pulling away from the side of the pan it is done.

  • I always follow the directions.. well.. i learned to after i made a disaster out of baking a cake once. LOLOLOL. I use a fork. I put the fork in the center of the cake and if it comes out clean.. it's done.. if it doesn't.. needs more time. but if you follow the directions exactly... it should be done when the time goes off.
