Do you have a well grounded Teenager?

So, I have a 16 year old daughter, she is taking 2 courses this summer so she can graduate a year early. She is planning on a year at the local community college to get some general courses out of the way and then transferring to an instate college to get her degree in forensic science. She turned down dates to the prom this year because she is better friends with the boys and doesn't want to be bothered with the dating scene right now.

At 16, she knows what she wants to do with her life, knows where she needs to go do to do it, and doesn't want to waste time dating in the mean time - girls or boys.

So anyone else have a well grounded, focused teenager who seems ahead of their classmates with their plans??

  • Hey 5 - make sure those credit will transfer to a college. Here in NC, if you graduate with an AA, the college you transfer to for your Bachelors can choose not to take the AA credits because they have already been used for a degree. Sometimes it is better to leave the AA behind and continue as a transfer student for the BA/BS without the AA.

  • Good luck to him Pink - if he ends up in Eastern NC - LeJeune -New River, Cherry Point, camp Geiger; I'm not far for any of those bases.

  • I've fed many marines (usually kids of friends) a good homemade meal at our family table over the 10+ years we've lived here.

  • Same here 5 - but with our "early college" program - a 5 year program where kids can get their HS diploma and earn 2 years of college credits - some of the state schools are now not accepting the college credits that have been used towards the awarding of an Associates degree. Sucks for the kids as the community colleges that host the public "EC" programs never tell these kids because to award an Associates makes THEM look good.
