My DD just asked me for one and I have never heard of having one as a pet

  • They are cute and everything but why would you want one? It would have to stay in a cage and they are very active animals. That might be kind of mean. If it wasn't in a cage I can only immagine what it would get into. Kittens are cute and more house friendly.

  • No because they are wild animals and not made for being a house pet.

Track her to a domesticated rodent - like a rat or hamster.

  • She is obsessed with Alvin and the Chipmunks lol. I guess I could get her a hamster and tell her it's a chipmunk lol

  • Chipmunks are of the rodent family, like squirrels, skunks and rats. They can carry rabies even without being sick. If one were to bite your child, she could get rabies. That is why no one keeps them for pets. Just too dangerous.
