Does anyone know if medicaid will transfer from state to state?

Me and my fiance will be moving to TN in the next month or so. I was looking to get insurance because i am 4 months pregnant. But I need to know if it can transfer from here to TN.

  • You have to reapply there. But I know they will work something out with you. Call around for OB's that will see you even if you don't have medicaid but have applied. Some will take you, some others wont.

  • It won't transfer, you have to reapply in the new state.

  • When my kids were on it and we moved to another state, we had to re-apply for the new state. Takes about 30 days to get all of it transferred.

  • It doesn't transfer but it will still take care of Dr. and delivery after you re-apply. Go online and find the state you are going to and get a new application so you can have it ready to go when you get there.

  • Call the your case worker and let them know when you are moving. When you get to your new state go in and reapply.

  • no it doesn't transfer but don't forget if you don't need the money part of it don't apply for it cause they only give you 48 months for life and that will be it unless your in a domestic violence relationship and the it still varies. and they count the months from the very beginning when you first filled out the application even if it was in a different state . Its not 48 months per state.
