  • When I got a male puppy, they told me it helps to get it done before 5 months old.. Not sure about cats though.

  • The vet told me to wait until my cat was 6 months old.

  • Most vets still do it at 6 months but low cost clinics(and many reg vets) will do it much younger. I get all of my fosters done early because I just don't trust people to get it done. I worked at a clinic that would do kittens as soon as they hit 2 pounds.

  • Some males will start spraying before 6 months of age. I worked in a low cost clinic where all we did was spay and neuter all Day long. . they did the kittens at 2 pounds. I also worked at a regular clinic for 13 years so i have seen it done both ways. It really just depends on the vet and what their preferences are.

  • They will not spray until 6 months of age. The kitten has to be about 5lbs for them to do that surgery.
