  • depends on how old he is

  • If he is under the age of 4, you really shouldn't give him anything. The FDA recently changed their regulations for administering cold meds to children. And it is no longer advised (nor will a peditrician reccomend it) to give a child cold medication.

If he has a stuffy nose you can use saline drops, but that is about it

  • We are not supossed to give cold meds to kids under 4, per the FDA. Some docs say this should be 6. These meds are still on the market so be careful. Many moms say "i've used this before without a problem" and continue to give cold meds. The problem here is that the results can be deadly. So you have to weigh out the risk vs benefits.

Its still ok to use motrin and tylenol. THis will at least help him sleep and with headaches that come with colds. Lots of fluids and love!

  • Don't give anything except maybe some tea to sooth your child. Let it run it's course.
