We just got a new Chiweenie puppy and he is 2 months old. What food can he eat? (with a pic)

Wet or dry food? He is so little and so mild tempered. He is so cute!!!

  • Small Bites PUPPY FOOD - hard is best - keeps tartar from building up on the teeth. Dogs don't NEED wet food unless they don't have teeth.
You'll have to pay more, but look for foods without any corn products in it. A lot of dogs are allergic to corn.

  • If he has teeth, then he should be fine with dry.
    Congrats!

  • Dry puppy food for small breeds is best. If he is having a hard time chewing it, you can add a teenie bit of boiling or hot water and let it soak for a few minutes before feeding for the next few (6 or so) weeks until the rest of his baby teeth emerge.

  • Chiweenie! That sounds funny! I bet he's adorable.Have any pics? I would talk to the vet, but most likely any small bites puppy food should be fine. I'm sure you could call and ask what they recommend. I've found Iams to be a good brand, though.

  • Adorable - again look for the better quality small bites/small breed puppy food. NO CORN - it is nutritionally balanced for them.
