How long did you exclusively breastfeed?

I work FT and have no problems pumping as long as I need to (even if it hurts) because I know it's best for my baby but I was just wondering how long you went with out introducing food to your baby?

  • I introduced solids to my 5 somewhere between 4-6 months. At 4 months for the oldest, because that's what was recommended then progressively later for the next 4.

  • The longest i went was 15 months. My son had issues with textures and refused to eat any food what so ever. I continued to breastfeed him til he was about 2 1/2 yrs.

  • With my first, I didn't offer food until about 4 or 5 months and nursed until she was 10 months old when she self weaned :(

With my second, I offered food around 4 months, and nursed until she was 17 months old.

Just had my third, and we will introduce food around 4 months again and I would like to make it to 18 months or so.

  • I went almost 6 months with only breastmilk in my son's diet but I was a stay at home mom and was told that was all he needed and then he started on jar foods and still breastmilk too, but i don't know how old your baby is but if you want to and he or she is old enough their is nothing wrong with giving them other foods, I have heard they get all that they need and you could go an entire year on just breastmilk but I think baby would enjoy getting to try all the new foods more and the longer they go with only reastmilk the longer they may never wana give it up lol!

  • I never exclusively breast fed. I introduced the bottle with formula right away. When I went back t work he was given formula. I nursed all morning after work and all night.

  • I think she ate breastmilk ONLY until about 5 months or so. Then I would feed her the baby cereal, but she still ate a lot more breastmilk than anything else.
