  • We usually pay at least $5-6 per hour. Is that too much or not enough?? It depends on how long we will be gone, whether or not the sitter has to feed our kids, put them to bed, etc. We don't hire a babysitter that often, which is probably why we can afford to do this. I used to babysit when I was younger, and I felt like I didn't get paid near enough. Plus with the gas prices so high, you have to keep that in mind if your babysitter has to drive to get to your house.

  • i used to babysit a lot and a good rule of thumb is $5/hour for 1 kid, and a dollar more for each kid after that. its been a few years so that number could have gone up.
