Great... So how CAN i punish my kids now?

Okay, let me get this straight, I can NOT punish my children by:

-Giving them a swat on the butt (spanking)
- Raising my voice (yelling)
- Giving them a time out (alienating)
- Sending them to bed without dinner (starving)

How am I supposed to punish them and NOT get CPS called on me by my overprotective nosy neighbor?

  • Good luck with that, and people wonder why they see spoiled rotten, violent, disrespectful kids running around.

  • close the curtains and shut the windows and turn on the radio full blast to punish your kids. and for those noisy neighbors, you wish you could tell them to mind their own business. i agree with Obby, people wonder why kids nowadays are so disrespectful and spoiled.

  • Discipline as you will. Let your nosy neighbor call CPS. She will become the Girl Who Cried Wolf and could end up facing criminal charges herself for filing false reports.

Change of scenery usually works for me well
    Talking to them

  • You should not get in trouble for raising your voice, appropriately or for giving time-outs. I don't know what worker told you that this was a problem.
Spanking is not condoned, or advised, but it is not the grounds for action from CPS, either.
Bed without dinner could get you in trouble, though.
It doesn't matter if your neighbor calls CPS if you are consequenting within bounds.

BUT, there are plenty of other discipline techniques, such as reward systems, temporary witholding of priveledges or toys, redirection, lecture, extra chores, etc. Those all work :)

    Sorry about your neighbor. :(

  • Go make them live with the neighbor. Let's see how she handles them! :)
