  • Please don't get Mirena. Many females, sooo many om this site alone, have the worst problems with Mirena - even worse than weight gain. Those of whom don't are LUCKY..and rare! I was one of the unlucky ones..30lbs gained, impossible to lose weight and countless other awful side effects. I suggest looking into Paragard..I had my Mirena removed after 3 years of hell, and replaced with non-hormonal Paragard. I have had it for just over a year, and I feel like me again. Good luck!

  • I gained about 25lbs a year after I got the Mirena. Nothing for the whole year, then wham... 25lbs. I have never had any other problems with it though.

  • It's the same thing as Mirena, an IUD, but it's copper, hormone-free and lasts twice as long.
