My SIL names her kids after colors. What do you think? Cute or Tacky?

I think its cute, but my DH does not. Their names are Cyan, Teal, Violet and Magenta lol. Reminds me of the Real Housewives of Orange COunty who named her kids after European cities - Paris, Milan and London lol

So what do you think? Cute or Tacky

  • I have never been a fan of theme names for siblings. But... they aren't my kids, not my business.

  • Tacky, but to each their own. I have a relative who named her kids after kid's animated movies...Crush & Titan are her kids names so I guess colors aren't that bad.

  • Personally I think it is like naming a child Destiney, Jewel, or other stripper names... but to each their own... than again I think my mom's friend that named her kids after their birth stones sound like strippers too... Ruby and Diamond

  • I think theme names are usually tacky, but their are some that break the rule. The chef, Jamie Oliver, has 3 girls named after flowers, and I actually think they're very sweet. I think colors is an interesting idea, but I can't say I like the names themselves. Magenta? I hate to judge, but that is a dog on blue's clues. . .

  • Cute & different

Once I met a lady in the hospital while we had our babies she had 3 girls and named them Joy, Mercy & Hope to each their own :/

  • My first thoughts are that dog on Blue's clues (Magenta) and Tellytubbies. Not sure of THAT association, only ever watched part of a few shows, but that's what's in my head.

  • It's not for me, but if that's what someone likes, then go for it!

  • Sorta both. I just wonder what it will be like for them through school. I know from experience that when you become an adult your name doesn't mean much compared to your work ethic and accomplishments but kids can be cruel and I'd worry about that. I'm successful as an adult and actually get compliments on my name which is Kali - pronounced Cali, as in California - but throughout elementary school no one was apparently able to pronounce it the correct way and no one else had my name so I always felt a little bit odd.
