Instead of a baby gate...

what can i use to block off my kitchen, i cant afford one of those big baby gates! but im constantly chasing my 7month old so she doesnt get to the computer cords & cat food! & im sure the kitchen food isnt sanitary & its tile so i dont want her to get hurt.! Any ideas?

  • A dog crate. Just use a super fun voice when you put them in & they'll think they're at a park.

  • I used kitchen chairs that I put so they were kinda stuck together, not ideal but it works and can be moved easily after they go to bed

  • I blocked my doorway for a while but then my son learned how to push them so he got in anyway. I found a cheap $15 wooden gate at babies r us... that has taken a hell of a beating from my toddler and has not stopped doing the job.

  • I would try garage sales, craigslist, ebay, and even - you can get those big baby gates for fairly inexpensive!
