How do you make rock candy?

Isn't there a way to put sugar on a string into a jar of water and make sugar crystals? I think it's the same way they make rock candy and you can do it at home... how do you do it?

  • Make a really heavy sugar solution in a cup. Suspend whatever you want to grow crystals over the cup by tying a string to a pencil and resting it across the top of the cup. As the water evaporates, the sugar will separate and form crystals.
