Who has coffee brewing this minute? can you do me a favor please

if it is brewing this minute
please go feel your cord

by accident, touched the cord when mine was brewing - IT WAS HOT!, like extremely hot
now it is done brewing it is not hot at all
thinking i should get a new coffee maker
never felt cord while it was brewing before
does yours feel really hot (has to be in act of brewing)

i know, cheap replacement (but really tight on money) if this was a normal thing for coffee maker, could save me a bit

  • Test the outlet first .... plug in something that you know the cord doesn't get hot and see if it gets hot. If it does, replace the outlet. If not, replace the coffee maker.

  • My cord isn't hot. From my experience, a hot cord means it's malfunctioning and eventually the plastic around the cord will melt. The circuit may have overloaded maybe during a storm or power surge. I would also test a different outlet to make sure it just doesn't happen with that one outlet. I also wouldn't brew it unattended as it could spark a costly fire. To prevent this in the future, unplug an appliance every time it's not in use.

  • nope. didn't get hot. it got a little warm right near the base of the machine where the heating element is but that's all. i'd definitely replace it just to be on the safe side.

  • thanks
will plug toaster in - see if it too heats up
thinking it is coffee maker - since not hot after brewing was done

just hot when brewing - i think - drawing too much power

time to invest in a new coffee maker
glad i accidently touched it when it was brewing

    stay cool everyone
thanks for the coffee brew testing

  • Yikes! I don't make coffee every day, and it's been a while, but now I'll pay attention next time I make some!
