How long did you make your children sit on the potty while potty training?

Until they did something, no matter how long it took? Or did you have a set amount of time, even if nothing happened by the time it was over?

  • Only as long as they are willing unless you want a power struggle on your hands.

  • I had them sit there as long as long as they wanted/would. My girls liked sitting on the potty though so I think the longest I had them sit there was like 15 minutes maybe. I got bored sitting there when they weren't doing anything lol

  • Ugh! I think that was the hardest part of parenting so far. I learned the hard way. They do it when they are ready. It all becomes a power struggle. I did keep a basket of "potty books" that were only for potty time. We also had a potty fairy come, which was helpful but in the end it was up to them. I just went crazy.
