What should 1 year old eat?

My daughter is 13 months. I am not sure on what she she should eat. Any advice pleace and thanks.

  • At one she can be eating little bits of anything you eat. Just make sure it is a good variety and the pieces are a good size for her to handle.

  • One year olds may choke on raisins, grapes, hot dogs, nuts, seeds, popcorn, peanut butter, raw vegetables or other hard, small foods. Be careful! Steam your vegetables, and serve them in small cubes. Don't slice a banana so that it is in round "coin" shapes - perfect size to plug a child's throat. Quarter the banana lengthwise first, then dice. Same for hot dogs, if you feed those (yuck!).

    when you introduce new foods, do so slowly. Children like what is familiar. They may turn up their noses as a new food the first 20 times you serve it. Often children prefer their foods "not touching". They will eat peas, carrots, potatoes and hamburger all served individually, but will not eat a casserole that has peas, carrots, potatoes and hamburger in it. Children tend to dislike spicy foods - go easy on salt and pepper.
    A suggested menu: AM: 1/2 cup milk, 1/4 cup cream of wheat, 1/2 banana. Snack-hard-boiled egg, milk. CONT

  • Lunch: 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cheese sandwich, 1/2 peach, 1/4 cup peas. PM Snack: 1/2 cup juice ,1/2 cup dry cheerios. Dinner: 1/2 cup milk, 1 chicken leg, 1/4 cup rice, 1/4 cup carrots.

  • At one year yor child can eat whatever you are eating with some exceptions, such as taco's and spicy foods. Seeing adults eat these foods wile show the child a good example. Small portions
