I want to make a grilled chicken what kind of spices should I use on the chicken?

  • I use either garlic salt or Cajun seasoning. You can leave plain with the seasonings or brush with bbq when almost done.

  • There is a dressing called Hendrickson's that I use.  I mainly buy it at Schnucks, but I think Walmart has started to carry it too.  It's got good seasoning, but is also sort of sweet as well.  I marinade most everything in that.

  • McCormick sells blended spices like BBQ and a chicken spice. I use them all the time. It makes seasoning a lot simpler because it is already mixed.

  • Butterflied Grilled Chicken

    1 (3 lb) (1.5Kg )whole chicken
    3 to 4 Tbsp. (45 0 60mL) Mrs. Dash® Original Chicken Grilling Blend™
    1 large red onion
    6 large peaches
    olive oil spray

    Directions

    1. Preheat grill to medium, about 300°F (150°C).
    2. To butterfly chicken, use a kitchen shears or poultry shears, cut along the entire length of backbone of chicken as near as possible to the center of the chicken.
    3. Turn over, and with the heel of your hand flatten chicken as much as possible.
    4. Sprinkle with Mrs. Dash® Original Chicken Grilling Blend.
    5. Place chicken skin side up on grill and cook for 25 to 30 minutes or until chicken is cooked and juices run clear.
    6. Remove chicken and keep warm.

    7. Pit peaches and cut into halves, cut onion into 1/2 inch slices, Spray onion slices and peach halves with a little olive oil.
    8. Place on grill and cook until tender and onions and peaches have developed grill marks.
    9. Carve chicken into pieces and arrange on a platter with onion slices and peach halves.

  • Ingredients

    2 Tbsp. (45mL) Mrs. Dash® Extra Spicy Seasoning Blend
    4 (1 lb) (454g) boneless, skinless chicken breast
    juice of one lemon
    2 tsp. brown sugar
    cooking spray

    Directions

    1. Neatly score each chicken breast on both sides with a sharp knife.
    2. Mix together in large bowl, Mrs. Dash® Extra Spicy Seasoning Blend, brown sugar and lemon juice. Add the breasts and coat thoroughly. Let rest 5-10 minutes.
    3. Heat a grill or cast iron grill plate. Spray with cooking spray.
    4. Grill chicken breasts on each side, 6-8 minutes, or until juices run clear. Put on plate, cover, and let rest 3-4 minutes. Spoon remaining juices over the top of each breast.
    5. Serve immediately.
