Does this internet tax thing in California charge people who buy things from CA

but live in a different state?

  • I'm not sure how that works, but it sounds like the whole thing will be in the court system for quite a while before it can even go into effect.....if it ever does.....

  • Everywhere else I have lived I have always paid taxes on anything I bought online. I thought everyone did. You should already be paying taxes on things your purchase by companies in state.

  • This is an AMAZON issue. When you buy from Amazon, they do not charge sales tax.

  • How do you figure this is just an Amazon issue? It was a state-enacted law.

  • The STATE wants sales tax charged by Amazon ....so that California gets the benefit of the sales tax amount. Otherwise, we can all buy from AMazon and not pay any state sales tax. Get it? ONLINE shopping at Amazon .....do you know about that?
