Quality of Life Is Far Higher in Countries with Greater Economic Freedom

Here is an excellent new video on the relationship between economic freedom and economic and social well-being. The freer a country is, the higher the quality of life and more happiness, including less poverty, more prosperity, longer life spans, cleaner environment, less corruption, lower child mortality, more civil liberties, and less unemployment. Freer countries protect individual rights to own and peacefully use private property, allow free trade freely, and have sound money, all under a universal rule of law with minimal government.

However, within recent years, the U.S. has been increasingly moving away from such freedoms as government power and spending has expanded at a gigantic rate, and the result is undermining the benefits of economic freedom for all Americans.

  • From OP: "However, within recent years, the U.S. has been increasingly "moving away" from such freedoms as government power and spending has expanded at a gigantic rate, and the result is undermining the benefits of economic freedom for all Americans."

I completely disagree with "moving away", our freedoms are being stolen away, deceitfully, under the guise of security and protection, from those peaceful, just a bit misguided, folks, who are really just people, like all the rest of us. We are now being profiled, not the those poor misguided folks, who wish us dead and make their hatred for us, no secret. The implementation and forced acceptance of political correctness, was and is our worst enemy, it welcomes all sorts of danger and corruption to our country, jmo.

  • Personal liberty and free market are not synonymous.
I couldn't watch the video as I'm on an old netbook, but countries with high quality of life tend to be more Socialistic
Finland won a recent Newsweek review of best countries to live. Countries with comprehensive healthcare systems like Japan and Canada, also rank high for personal freedom

  • I find it funny that many of the countries that have a higher quality of life than the US were left off that little chart... like Norway and Finland. Both have elements of capitalism and socialism implemented and both have a higher quality of life than the US, are happier than the US, have higher life expectancy's than the US, lower infant mortality rates than the US, and more. They are, by the definitions your blog is using, less free and yet better off than we are.

Hmmm... how is that possible?? lol

Holy cow is right. Do you live in a freaking box? Have you ever heard of this little event we had in this country that is referred to as 9-11? That would be a good start for you. Then move forward and backward in time from there and you MIGHT figure it out.
