How long?

how long do you need to wait after giving birth b4 you can take a fertility test and it be accurate? im 21weeks now and will be breast feeding all the time so i really dont want to jump on bc (birth control) right after i have my dd..does anyone know?

  • Not sure, but you should ask your doc...they should be able to give you an estimate.

  • Fertility test, like an OPK? To predict ovulation? Those would be accurate after the first 6 weeks or so. There's still potential to get pregnant before then, but the OPK will likely be positive as long as you have leftover pregnancy hormone in your system. And keep in mind, if you're planning on using this to help you AVOID pregnancy, OPKs are positive 1-2 days before you ovulate, but you can be fertile a few days before you get a positive OPK up until a day or so after you ovulate; an OPK just tells you when you're MOST fertile. So as long as you don't want to get pregnant, use protection.
