Would you be offended at all if your cousin..

decided to name their baby girl the same name as your daughter? My cousin just had a baby and named her daughter Kylee. My daughter's name is spelled Kylie...my daughter also has developmental delays and it hurts to think of the awkward times ahead when we run into each other...

What are your thoughts?

  • It would bother me, unless it was a distant relative who we NEVER saw.

  • I would be a little bothered, after all, there are plenty of names out there, why pick the same one as someone in your family?

  • I would be a bit bothered, it would be different if it were just an acquaintance, but not your cousin.

  • I think "thank gosh for nick names!"

My kids have pretty common names from where we have lived and their nick names have helped a ton, instead of saying "Abigail, come here" and having 7 billion children come we use their nick names in settings where someone can become confused "Abby-bee, come here" it works

  • Ya, bothered. But maybe the name is sentimental to them for some other reason?

  • Would I be bothered? No too much no.

This kind of reminds me of a BIL I have. HIS middle name is Michael, and he was pissed that two of his siblings gave THEIR children Michael/Michelle as middles names. BIL thought only HE could use that name. Kinda petty really.

  • While I do agree with meooma, it would still irk me. I wouldn't understand why they couldn't have chosen something else, or used it as the middle name.
