What kind of tricks do your dogs know?

I planned at one point in my life to be a professional dog trainer so I studied dog training. I have a seven year old collie named Maggie that knows how to sit, stay, lie down, shake, beg, roll over, dance, sing, crawl on her belly, jump rope, fetch, speak, spin in circles, jump through a hoop, over a hurdle, through my arms, over my leg, balance a treat on her nose, carry things in her mouth, wave, hide her eyes, say her prayers, and give high five. She also has been taught to herd livestock. She is a very intelligent dog and loves to learn tricks.

I also have a six month old redbone hound puppy named Nikki and she knows how to sit, stay, lie down, and shake. I'm planning to teach her more tricks in the future.

  • Speak, roll over. hop on hind legs, sit straight up like a prairie dog, shake hands, spin circles on hind legs. She's a weenie dog! That's pretty impressive what you have taught yours! I love watching animals do these things!

  • He can sit and roll over and thats about it. I would love to master the come here though. If he is in the yard or house he comes right when called, but if he gets loose (when someone accidentally opens the door) NOTHING will get him back! I literally had to tackle him one day. He will go up to any and all strangers when they call, but not me. I have Never ever smacked him when I call him to come to me. I don't punish him for running away. But for whatever reason he wont come when he gets loose. Drives me insane!

  • Mine can do a "High Five" - she is large and when she stands on her back legs, her paws reach my over-stretched hands. When you say, "High Five", she'll rear up and touch her paws to my hands.

  • Lol, we got over teaching tricks long before getting the dogs we have now. We speak to them, and they can perform tasks as we ask of them. We're done using them for entertainment, lol. Except siccing my rat terrier on the buck mounted on our wall... LOL

  • My dogs wait at the corner before we cross streets without a leash, they come when called, sit, stay, shake hands, lay down, and the lil one will spin in circles. I have a maltipoo, female, 7 yrs old, and a german shepard lab mix who is 3 yrs old, male.
