  • first, set a date...second, figure out where you're having it & in the meantime make a guest list

once you get those out of the way, start thinking about food, wedding dress, bridal party attire, color theme, decorations, invitations...and so much more. But, first you need a date & place...after that....you can worry about the rest. You need your mom or a best friend to help you out if you cannot afford a wedding planner.

  • Make a list. (I love a list) and then prioritise. But I'd say booking the wedding and the reception venues come tops. Congrats! x

  • you really don't have to start doing anything until about a year before hand.

  • Congrats on your engagement. We set our date of 6/6/10 back in March of 09. I waited around too. Found myself rushing to do everything in the end. You want to start at least a year out. Set your budget 1st. And make it flexible. Until you encounter them, you never know all the little expenses of the wedding.

  • Go and look at venues, a lot of venues. Don't go with the first one you look at look at a bunch. Once you find the one you like see if thy have your date available then book it. Buy a book and it will explain everything that you need to do.
