  • dill dip with rye bread..

you can do mini pizza's (my mom makes them with rye bread.. she cuts up the slice into 4 squares.. spreads on some cheddar cheese spread, puts a pepperoni slice on it, and places them on aluminum foil on broil until the cheese slightly browns.. (keep an eye on it, it only takes a minute or two if it's on the top racks because you want it on broil not bake).

    a fruit and veggie tray

maybe a chicken wing dip with crackers
and a fwe side salads (mac salad, tuna noodle, etc).

and a quick noodle dish like a baked ziti dish.

  • Onion tarlets. You can buy premade tartlets. Caramelize some onions in olive oil over medium-low heat. Season with salt and pepper and a bit of fresh thyme. Fill the tartlests with the onions, cover them with goat cheese (or parmesan, if you prefer) and bake them until golden brown.
Put some crudites with dip. I usually do 2 dips because dips are usually creamy and fattening and with ladies, you canbet some of them are watching their diets. So have a light alternative like light Ranch, Russian or Italian dressing
If you want to serve meat, chicken skewers is nice. Make them satay with oriental seasoning and peanut sauce (there are many recipes out there)
Ellie Krieger on the Food Network website has a nice chicken and grape skewers, which is light as well.
Taquitos are good too, use small tortillas, fill them with whatever you want and serve them with guacamole, shredded lettuce, cream and salsa.

  • More ideas coming in, LOL!
Buy mini bagels, spread them with cream cheese, put some smoked salmon on top with capers and chopped fresh dill.
Something with fruit, like fruit skewers with a yoghurt dipping sauce.
If you're a baker, you can do petit fours, one sheet of batter makes quite a bit of those. Or make browines from a mix on a sheet and cut them into bite-size portions.
Some salads: tuna, chicken, potato or pasta. A healthy lettuce based salad with cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, or any other veggie you like with a simple balsamic and olive oil dressing for the ones on a diet.
My favorite salad: arugula with sliced strawberries, toasted chashews, craisins, feta cheese and lemon dressing.

    meat and cheese platter
fruit tree ( syrofoam base and toothpicked strawberries, pinneaple and grapes) with fruit dip of cream cheese and marshmallow creme-( 1 brick cheese to 1 container creme )
    tacos in a bag
you can always go with the traditional grilling of burgeres and brats with all of the trimmings, chips, potato salad and watermelon- or make it easier and serve sloppy joes.
    Have fun ! :-)
