i breastfeed my 5 month old son and the last couple of days i have been giving him solids he hadn't pooped in a day or to then today when i changed his diaper he had a big chunk of poop is this normalAnswer Question

Yes & no. Yes it is definitely to be expected with the introduction of food. It takes a lot for his little body to digest things at first. No in the fact that you should not let it continue. If you are feeding cereal perhaps try starting with avocados instead. The cereals can be quite constipating. Take your time, it is just for practice so you don't need to feed a lot. Just watch the poops and do your best to help relieve the constipation. So yes everything is normal.

Yes that is very normal. The poop is not normal but him becoming a little constipated is. This has happened to my DD. Delaying solids isn't going to help. It's the cereal (I'm assuming) that's doing it. Cereal is just a practice food and not nutritionally necessary. Once your LO gets used to solids you might want to add some prunes which are stage 1 foods to ward off constipation. We do this and it cleared up constipation just fine.
