A friend of mine (TMI)

cut herself just once (as in self-mutalation) and her ex boss saw the marks and my friend is looking for a job, do you think the ex boss would say anything? or would the ex boss not recommend her to anyone do you think?? she was a good worker and didn't cut until AFTER she was laid off.

  • If it wasn't relevant to her working for him, then he shouldn't say anything. But I don't know what type of person he is so you never know.

  • she was a great worker for 3 years but yelled at the boss one time at the end of her working there, then she quit with 2 weeks notice. then her time was extended for another 2 weeks after that. it's not like the boss couldn't stand her..just had some difficult times ONCE to the point my friend took it a little too far. her boss was also her boyfriends aunt.

  • No. He cannot really say anything about the marks on her arms. That would not be a good legal move for him. But, he can mention the altercation . . . with caution.

Usually bosses don't give terrible reviews because they are too worried about being sued.

  • I think a health issue would be covered under HIPAA. Most former employers limit what information they give to only start and end dates of employment (if they have any sense at all).
